Last update 21 December 2011.
Heating a church and keeping the congregation warm can be a very expensive problem.
Over the years, we have looked at and tried several different heating solutions but our main problem is the height of the ceiling and also the fact that we do not have daily services in winter and most heating systems need to be left switched on for the heat to build up.
We are at present experimenting with a new heating system in our church.
It is an innovative pew heating system which we have agreed to give a trial. It uses the same principle as the mesh used to provide modern underfloor heating systems.. It should give us significant savings in heating costs and will only need to be switched on about 15 minutes before a service starts. It is estimated that it will cost £1.25 per hour to run for the whole church.
